The Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s director of athletics, Jack Swarbick says that Coach Brian Kelly will be with the team in 2017. Jack is quoted as saying “Brian will lead this team out of the tunnel opening day next year.”
You may remember that after game 4, Coach Kelly fired their defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder as the Defense looked like a welcoming committee for their defended end zone. Man, those kids were hospitable.
Swarbick went on to say:
“I guess I’d say I wish the perception matched the reality a little better. I understand the perception, but we’ve got to work to alter that perception because it creates noise and gets in the way. But the reality couldn’t be further from it. I’m not going to reveal the nature of the postgame discussion between Brian and the team after Stanford (a loss on Saturday), but that was a discussion between a coach and a team who really care about each other and have a great relationship, and that’s what I get to see every day.”
“What we have to do is try to avoid the situation, which creates a different perception because that perception doesn’t reflect the reality. We have to figure out how to be better at it.”
Bottom line is that the Irish are now 2-5 and will be facing teams with 4 wins for the rest of the season…oh, and the Irish may lose bowl eligibility if they don’t get their act together. I never thought it was scientifically possible for the Irish NOT to be on TV in a Bowl Game as the nation loves their Irish. My prediction: The Irish bounce back and become Bowl Eligible.
C’mon Irish!
